The Simple and Smart SEO Show

Optimizing Google Ads and More: Follow Through Fridays

Crystal Waddell Season 3 Episode 127

Episode Summary: In this episode of the Simple and Smart SEO Show Follow Through Fridays, I share how I integrated tips from Katlyn Paskorz to improve product descriptions and resolve long-standing issues with my Google Ads account.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Integrating Customer Feedback:
    • I realized the importance of using customer language in my website content. By incorporating feedback, such as a client’s comment about getting a "mom win" from a photo collage, I improved my product descriptions using Chat GPT and client reviews.
  2. Google Business Profile Optimization:
    • I took the time to review and update my Google Business Profile, removing outdated posts and focusing on what I want my business to be known for: senior night photo collages and giant senior photo props.
  3. Leveraging Google Ads and Tools:
    • One of the most significant actions I took was resolving an issue with my Google Ads account that had prevented me from running ads.
  4. Community Feedback:
    • I share a success story from a member of the SEO Squad who applied advice from our guest speakers to improve her website. This reinforces the value of taking actionable steps based on expert insights.

Optimizing with Katlyn Paskorz's SEO Advice: Crystal's Experience

Welcome to Follow Through Fridays

[00:00:00] Crystal Waddell: Welcome to the third season of the Simple and Smart SEO Show. The podcast dedicated to empathy driven, brand building SEO. I'm your host, Crystal Waddell. I leverage my obsession with user experience to help business owners just like you optimize your website with confidence.

[00:00:15] Thank you so much for being here.

[00:00:17] Let's jump into another great episode.

[00:00:19] Hey there, my friend, welcome back to follow through Fridays. I am getting caught up from a bunch of amazing episodes, a bunch of amazing guests.

Recap of Katlyn Paskorz's Episode

[00:00:28] Crystal Waddell: Today I am going to be doing the follow up Friday episode for my conversation with Katlyn Paskorz, who was with us Episode 126 6.

[00:00:39] Katlyn came on to talk to us all about how to build a successful and easy SEO strategy.

[00:00:46] She also came and spoke to our small group and gave a presentation on Google ads, which was fantastic.

[00:00:51] So thank you so much for that, Katlyn. But I wanted to take just a moment to.

Action Steps from Katlyn's Tips

[00:00:55] Crystal Waddell: Review a few of the action steps that I made note of and chose to follow up on from this episode.

Integrating Customer Feedback

[00:01:01] Crystal Waddell: So, one of the first action steps was to integrate customer feedback.

[00:01:07] Katlyn talked about how important it was to talk to your customers to understand like what words they use to find you and your services.

[00:01:14] And I think this is a great idea. It's definitely something that I do with my clients when I'm working on their websites. And there is a specific situation that I remember doing this for collagewood. com.

[00:01:25] And that's when one of my clients told me that The collage gift that she purchased was going to get her "a mom win" from her kiddo.

[00:01:34] And I thought, Oh my gosh, that's so cool. So on every single collage gift, one of the bullet points is, Hey, get a mom win! And it's just an opportunity for parents to reconnect with their teenagers.

[00:01:45] Love that tip from Katlyn to conduct customer interviews.

Updating Website Content

[00:01:48] Crystal Waddell: And that actually goes into the second takeaway, which is to update your website content with that language.

[00:01:54] If we were going to take that one step further, Katlyn recommends creating an FAQ section.

[00:01:59] And so I thought that was great. I did update my FAQs on my website, but I think that's something I could probably go back and revisit.

Google Business Profile Optimization

[00:02:07] Crystal Waddell: And then The third action step that I noted here was Google business profile optimization. And I've been spending a lot of time on this.

[00:02:14] Not just for my own business, but also with the SEO squad as we go through everybody's Google business profile and update it.

[00:02:20] And one thing that I did realize when I was going through to update the Google business profile was that I had product information.

[00:02:28] And just different posts that were no longer relevant from about 2021.

[00:02:33] And so it was a great exercise to go through and update those product posts.

[00:02:38] And you know really focus on what I want to be known for. Which is senior night photo collages Giant senior photo props.

[00:02:46] And so that's what I did. I went back and made some revisions so that my Google business profile reflected those two things.

[00:02:52] Number four is the one where I feel like I really made the biggest headway.

Leveraging Google Ads and Tools

[00:02:56] Crystal Waddell: And that was to leverage Google ads and tools. And like I said, Katlyn came and did a special presentation for the SEO squad.

[00:03:04] And I had an issue with my Google ads account that had been existing for about the last year or so.

[00:03:10] And it had something to do with verification.

[00:03:12] I needed to verify my account. And for whatever reason, I had done it wrong at one point. And so it was like, you can't run ads until you fix this. And so we were It seems like a simple thing.

[00:03:23] But because of this episode, I finally went in and fixed my Google ads account so that I could run ads. Now, the question is what ads do I run?

[00:03:34] So that's where I'm at right now. It's do I run ads for services for, optimization services?

[00:03:40] I'm thinking about doing one for what I call the brand resume.

[00:03:43] Where I help business owners make sure that all of their social media handles and their different offsite optimizations are consistent.

[00:03:52] And so that's one possibility. The other possibility is to run ads for my e commerce store. So I have some options.

[00:03:59] And the great thing is now because of Katlyn's presentation, I was able to get my Google ads. Account back up and running.

[00:04:06] And I'm actually excited to run a Google ad.

[00:04:09] So those were some of the top action steps That I took away from Katlyn's episodes.

Community Feedback and Final Thoughts

[00:04:13] Crystal Waddell: I would love to hear what you thought as well. And one of the squad members, Sarah, she shared at our last meeting that she had her own followup, follow through Friday moment with her website.

[00:04:24] And it was just so neat to hear that, she was actually taking some of the insight and wisdom from our guest speakers to improve her website.

[00:04:31] So if you have a story like that, I would love to hear about it. You can send me a text through the show notes.

[00:04:36] Or drop me an email at hello at simple and smart seo. com.

[00:04:40] And remember don't get overwhelmed by all of the advice that you might hear from one of our guest experts. Just pick one thing that can help your business grow.

[00:04:48] For me, it was just making sure that my Google ads account was finally active. And I feel great about that.

[00:04:54] It was something that was on my to do list that I had ignored for probably close to a year. And now that's done. So just pick one and like always, keep moving forward.

[00:05:02] See you next time.
